We’ve started seeing fliers and leaflets about this year’s 2012 Swaledale Festival.
The Swaledale Festival this year starts on 19th May and concludes on 3rd June 2012.
Highlights at this year’s Swaledale Festival include Wild Food Foraging in Arkengarthdale and the Muker Silver Band and the European Union Chamber Orchestra playing in Grinton.
The Swaledale Festival is always an example of the great talent and artistry we have present in the Yorkshire Dales.
With the Dales, and Swaledale in particular, on the map more than ever following the second series of man from Bottom, Adrian Edmondson’s The Dales, this year’s Festival is sure to go with more of a bang than ever!

I’ll be going. I never miss the festival, there’s always four or five events I go to and I’m always amazed at our good luck getting such genuinely world-class artists here in Wensleydale. And I guess the festival must be good news for local businesses and pubs, because there are thousands of visitors who come every year. Only trouble is that the concerts fill up fast, so I’m posting my order in this weekend.
A friend on Leyburn Town Council tells me the festival is putting on an extra event in Leyburn as part of the town’s Jubilee celebrations on 4(?) June. Whatever it is it’s apparently not in the festival’s printed programme. Something to look forward to!
Good stuff Ben, even better for us if things are happening in Leyburn, as its right on our doorstep!
Great to see the Festival being promoted! Although it’s not officially part of the Festival, we are actually supporting Leyburn Day on 4 June, so details will be in the specific literature produced for the day.
The Swaledale Festival brings about 7000 visitors to Wensleydale, Swaledale and Arkengarthdale during its two weeks, and we always want local businesses to benefit. This year, we have launched a Local Business Support scheme whereby local businesses pay £30 or £50 and receive publicity for a year through the Festival website and event programmes. Go to http://www.swaledale-festival.org.uk/lbs.html for full details and application form. We’re hoping lots of businesses will benefit from the direct economic impact of the Festival in the region.
Other Wensleydale locations for the Festival this year include Bedale, Spennithorne, Middleham, Wensley, Stalling Busk, Askrigg and Hawes. Hope to see you there,
Jinny
Swaledale Festival Board – Sponsorship
Hi Jinny,
That’s great news – we will be sure to look out for the Wensleydale based events. I will also have a look at your sponsorship packages, as they are the sort of thing that will be worth mentioning to our friends and clients in and around Swaledale (not to mention for our business too!).
Best of luck with the Festival – it is always a lot of effort to put something like this together, so well done!
