VPN is short for Virtual Private Network.
Using a VPN is a good way to secure your web traffic, particularly if and when you are in an unknown or untrusted wifi location (say a cafe or hotel, but really any connection you are “not sure” about the integrity of the data transfer) – this is because a VPN creates a secure “tunnel” through which your device connects to the internet.
Also in a security context, for WordPress super-admins, VPNs can be an excellent way to lock down permissions for admins and editors, allowing you a known list of IP addresses to whitelist in your firewall, and therefore blocking rogue actors from private areas of your website.
